Didn't Catch Upstairs Downstairs?

PBS, the wonders that they always are, has made the first episode available online for a limited time. (They also have 39 Steps up, which, if you haven't seen it, block out a 3 hour chunk and watch it too.)

Upstairs Downstairs is a revival of the 70's classic by the same name about the next generation tenants at 165 Eaton Place. Set around the turn of the century, Upstairs Downstairs will remind you of Dowton Abbey: the juxtaposition of life in service to life in elegance, the sweet and strained relationships, and, of course, beautiful houses.

With only watching the first episode, I have to say my verdict is still out. I enjoyed episode one, I thought it went rather fast, but there wasn't much of a deeper connecetion for me. Since its only three episodes long, there are interesting storylines and fabulous character moments that are quickly glossed over and moved past, which is really the biggest shame. I certainly will be watching episode two, and three though.

There isn't much on the news front. Some interesting production developments though.

First a new Peter Pan remake and now this: Elijah Wood, Donald Sutherland cast in new Treasure Island

Exclusive new photos of The Three Musketeers I don't think they're THAT exclusive or new...

19thNovels.com A new on-line novel site. Though there aren't that many novels yet, it is the cleanest and easiest online stop I've ever seen. Normally, book sites are messy and I worry that I'm missing large pieces. This is a nice change from all of that. 2nd only to Project G.

Tumblr gets ready for 2011 Could this possibly mean less fail screens?! AND not mass posting my queued photos?! That will be welcome.

Big bookstores nearing end of their shelf life? While I would love to see us move back to the small-town, family run, bookstores of yester-year, this article seriously unnerves me. Borders and Barnes and Noble are staples in my shopping life and book-buying mentality. We're coming into a whole new age of reading, readers and I'm not sure I'm ready for it.

Anything Period is doing a Christmas Week of Costume If you're not familiar with Tumblr, or anything period, its a micro blogger where I daily post photos of our favorite costume dramas. A week of costume is where I take a week and only post photos from a specific costume drama; normally week of costume is only a summer thing, but this Christmas it was time for our favorite heroes (and me) to give back a bit. Today: its the boys of Merlin, tomorrow: Col. Brandon.
