Borgia inspired textures & brushes

Happy Saturday everyone! And Saturdays, for me, are always the best days. I hear you can be your most creative...have you submitted your caption for the contest? The chances to win are still VERY VERY good. So, don't think your captions won't be funny enough! I have a special prize too for the person with the best of the worst.

But today, I have a wonderful photoshop surprise for you - a brush set AND textures.

The Borgias are all about gold and extravagance and a little bit of masked danger. So, the gilded (extra large) textures and brushes reflect that. While you can utilize the texture as a clipping or shape mask, you can also put them on color burn or hard light and make a bloody touch to your photo (a la our sexy Cesare example). And the ink blots inverted can add an eerie touch. But don't take my word for it, try them out for yourself!

June Brush Set

Brush Set #007, June 2011 Photoshop CS4+
Let's float in the sky and bounce along the summer with some silly, but pretty, balloon-like brushes. Total of 10 brushes with varying sizes and shapes. Best when used in color, even though I always seem to use grey in these examples.

May brush set

Brush Set #006May 2011 Photoshop CS4+
Doodles and squiggles are always my favorite, but what happens when they're never large enough for the project you're working on?That's where this new set comes in! Here are 11 brushes made just for you. They vary is messiness and lightness so that you can set the exactly the tone and depth you need. Also able to be used as masking brushes, this set is sure to have you light flaring your next project to the nines.

APRIL BRUSH SET

This set was created for the month of April, 2010 and was inspired by old newspapers and puzzles. The images and scanned puzzle pieces, highly contrasted to make may look less like puzzle pieces, and more like funcky text snippets. Puzzle Pieces are scanned from old Times/New York Times Newspaper front pages, which were super-imposed on a puzzle. 22 brushes of varying size, all in theme.

MARCH BRUSH SET

Brush Set #004, March 2011 Photoshop CS4+
Feel like creating a foggy world with a little wonderland in it? This set is 9 brushes with starlight and fog. Created with wave stock photos and grunge textures, it is a set perfect for masking in photos or use as overlay and mutiply texture.

FEBRUARY BRUSH SET

Based off urban city streets, this set of brushes is much more blocky than the last two. 3 to 4 large masking brushes are included and all cityscape outlines and above 900 px resolution.

JANUARY BRUSH SET

There is nothing like a great landscape or light texture. This set has the best of both. Instead of telling you about the 12 abstract and other brushes, I have some way cool fan art (...I think) to show you. The fanart below uses brushes from this set, as well as brush set 1. The brushes were created by greatly abstracting photos of birds, light spots and cellophane; many are best used on an overlay or screen layer.

DECEMBER BRUSH SET

Brush Set #001, December 2010 photoshop CS4 +
Inspired by the Harry Potter Founders, this first brush set for December 2010 features 28 brushes of various size larger than 800 pixels. Both actor images and stock photos were used. The brushes are more grungy and were created for use as masking tools or decorative decay accents.

Why the Harry Potter Founders? Because I simply cannot get them out of my head (and it doesn't help that the 4 actors considered to be the OTP set are some of my absolute favorites). To learn more about why I would have a photoshop crush on these four, visit fyhogwartsfounders and fyeahmodernfounders. The graphics are always entertaining and inspiring.

But even if you don't like the Hogwarts Founders, or Henry Cavill, Katie McGrath, Billy Piper, and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers this brush set it for you. I made sure there were over 12+ abstract/decorative brushes to insight your interest. Enjoy!
